Date:
Spring 2019
Installation:
NIBE F2040 8kW Air Source Heat Pump
Location:
Ely, Cambridgeshire
Project details:
Alan and Katie got a nasty surprise one day when they discovered their oil tank had started to leak, followed shortly by their boiler deciding to join in and start leaking too. The couple had always planned to replace their heating system with something renewable to reduce their energy bills, so whilst their hands were forced, this disaster provided the perfect opportunity for us to work our Eco Magic.
As the family were without heating, Roly promptly visited the family home the same day the call came in to see what options were available. After carrying out a site survey and calculating the energy demands of the property, Roly suggested replacing the oil boiler with a F2040 8kW NIBE air source heat pump, which uses heat from the outside air to provide efficient heating and hot water throughout the property.
Alan and Katie already had a great understanding of how heat pumps work and the environmental benefits of having a system like that installed. They were pleased with the information and the quote they received from Roly and were excited to book in the work.
As the oil was starting to leak onto the ground, we had to act quickly. The following day Will attended and drained all the oil out of the tank to keep the area safe.
The NIBE heat pump was installed in the back garden in a position where it could easily be moved when Alan and Katie have their planned extension. The cylinder, expansion and buffer tank were fitted unobtrusively in the garage. Once the project was complete, our insulation specialist worked his magic, insulating all the pipework providing a neat and tidy plant room.
The boiler was removed from the kitchen giving Alan and Katie loads of extra space and the low, gravity-fed pressure tank was removed from the loft. The couple are delighted with the high-water pressure they now enjoy following their heat pump installation.
Alan and Katie have had the system installed for a couple of months now and are pleased with how quiet the heat pump is when running. The heat pump has kept their home at a constant temperature even though the weather has varied considerably over the last month.
Alan and Katie have a heating system to be proud of and are already enjoying the benefits. Their energy bills are reduced, and they will receive payments from The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) for seven years. SEVEN! Not to mention the environmental impact of yet another home turning away from fossil fuels.
We look forward to seeing Alan and Katie again in a year when their NIBE heat pump is due an annual service.
Testimonial:
“From the very first phone call to Eco Installer and ever since, we have both found Roly, Shane, Will, Sharon, Vanessa, Rebecca, Keir, Rob and the entire team to be extremely helpful. It’s rare to find companies and people you can fully trust but this is exactly what we found with Eco Installer. Their quotation was fair and competitive, attention to detail was perfect and they were, and still are, always on hand to help. Our new system is just what we wanted, the work has been carried out to the highest of standards and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this company to anyone else thinking about going green.” Alan and Katie
