Project Details:
Mel has worked in Property Maintenance for many years, installing heat pumps, kitchens, bathrooms and much, much more. When the opportunity arose to purchase some land in the Soham area, Mel was only too pleased to be able to put his skills to good use in his own property.
Having worked with Shane on several projects, Mel was keen to engage with Eco Installer with the installation of an air source heat pump. Shane carried out a series of heat-loss calculations which confirmed an 8kW NIBE air source heat pump (ASHP) would be able to provide all the heating and hot water demands of the family.
Throughout the project we worked closely with Mel and his installation team to ensure the project ran as smoothly as possible. The heat pump was neatly installed at the front of the house and as space was limited in the plant room, we installed the cylinder on top of the buffer tank. The heat pump was connected to the underfloor heating system which Mel had installed throughout the ground level.
The couple have now moved into their beautiful home and are delighted to be free from fossil fuels. Mel and Nikki are amazed at how quiet the NIBE heat pump is when running and how excellent the water pressure is! They are now in the process of applying for the Government’s Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), available to those who switch to a renewable heating solution.
Although we have worked with Mel on a series of projects previously, it has been a pleasure working with him and Nikki with their self-build project. It is great to see another house choose renewable energy over fossil fuels.
