Project details:
Melissa and her daughter had lived in a bungalow in Beck Row for many years when they started to feel like they needed a property which provided them with more living space. After a long search they found a beautiful 3-bedroom house just around the corner from where they currently lived.
Their new home ran on oil with an oil tank taking up a lot of space at the bottom of the garden. With rising costs of oil coupled with its associated high carbon footprint, Melissa was keen to replace the oil boiler with an environmentally friendly option.
Melissa have spent some time researching different heating systems and was interested in finding out the suitability of a heat pump. Eco Installer was recommended to Melissa through her builder; and after a few e-mails with more information, Shane visited the property and carried out a site survey which concluded an air source heat pump was the most suitable and effective solution to provide the heating and hot water for the family home.
Shane suggested a NIBE 12kW air source heat pump with a 200L Joule cylinder, 100L buffer tank and new radiators. With a quick installation required to allow Melissa’s builders to carry on with their works, our office staff managed to move the diary around slightly to enable us to carry out the installation the following week.
Our team of engineers installed the buffer, cylinder and other items in an area under the stairs. As there wasn’t a lot of space, we installed a cube shaped buffer which fitted in to the gap perfectly. The NIBE heat pump was installed discreetly in the garden to the side of the house taking up minimal space.
Melissa is delighted with her new renewable heating system and is amazed at how quiet the system is. Melissa was pleased to remove the oil tank at the bottom of the garden and is looking forward to putting a beautiful summer house in its place in the near feature.
Testimonial:
“After approaching Eco Installer, and meeting up with Shane for a site survey to see what my options were with changing the oil heating/hot water system, to a greener and cleaner option. Shane recommended the air source heat pump as the best way to go, to which I agreed with, as after much research of my own, I felt it would suit our needs and lifestyle perfectly, along with having the RHI to help with the cost was an added bonus.
Throughout the installation, both Shane, Jack and Kier, the engineers, and the team at Eco Installer, kept me informed of how the project was progressing right to the end. They were also happy to liaise with my builder and electrician too.
Now we’re seeing the system in action, and so far we have been impressed with the running of it. It is so quiet compared to the old oil boiler, fume free, good hot water and pressure too. The heat pump sits discreetly to one side of the house, taking up little room, unlike the oil tank, and in general we feel so much cleaner using air, not dirty oil, along with knowing we’re doing our part for the environment.
We have yet to experience the heating, but we’re confident all will run as smoothly as it has been for the hot water. We’re now looking forward to a cosy, warm winter without the worry of whether we’ll have enough oil in the tank!
I found Shane very knowledgeable in his field. He’ll happily answer any questions or queries I have with this new system and more.
With a view to have solar panels fitted and other projects on the house to do, I know where I’ll be going! THANK YOU everybody!” Melissa
