Gary and Dana contacted us about a project that we don’t come across every day…but it was an exciting one! They were in the early stages of demolishing an existing building in Hardwick and had big plans to build a brand-new bungalow in its place. The couple had an extensive wish list for their new family home, but right at the top of their priorities was that it be as sustainable as possible. They no longer wanted to rely on fossil fuels, which was right up our street.
The process started with an appointment at our Witchford office with Shane and Becki to look at the project in more detail; it was an opportunity to discuss different options and plan the perfect renewable heating system for their dream home. Having heard about the benefits of switching to a
significantly more cost-effective system, they were keen to explore how an Air Source Heat Pump could work in their own home and reduce their dependence on fossil fuels.
Shane concluded that the best solution to meet their energy requirements was to install an 8.5kW Mitsubishi EcoDan air source heat pump with a 250ltr pre-plumbed cylinder and underfloor heating throughout using a clip track system. It was the perfect fit for their eco-friendly project. We also
installed a Save-VTR 300 mechanical ventilation with a heat recovery system which would help keep the temperature comfortable inside, no matter the weather outside. The solar photovoltaic (PV) system will offset some of the running costs of the family home. What was there not to love about
that?
Following the installation and on-site handover with Gary and Dana, our admin team sent them their handover pack electronically, which consisted of their MCS document, building control and warranty documents, plus a personalised video showing them how their system works and how to alter the
settings. They were then good to go…
Gary and Dana were delighted to take advantage of the Government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) and received a whopping £7,500 towards the installation (the BUS scheme has now increased from £5,000). They are incredibly pleased with their new heating system and can’t wait to start reaping the financial rewards.
NOTE. The BUS scheme is available to self-builders, and homeowners wishing to upgrade their oil or gas central heating system.
Testimonial:
Just received our handover pack from Eco Installer following the installation of the heat pump at our major Bungalow renovation. From the outset, we knew we wanted a sustainable and eco-friendly home and home environment; with so many options, it seemed rather daunting. Having arranged a visit to Eco Installers’ office, a whole system was designed to complement each other, incorporating a Solar array, MVHR, heat pump with underfloor heating.
Everything has been excellent, from organising installations and actual installations to coordinating with our builder, not to mention the admin team for sorting out grant paperwork, etc. Now, we are enjoying the fruits of their expertise and have already referred them to our friends. We are looking forward to a long-term relationship with services going forward.
