Mr and Mrs Stubbs contacted us with an interest in having Solar PV Panels installed at their property in Wilburton, Ely.
Roly visited the property to discover the best location to install the Solar Panels. There wasn’t enough roof space on the family home to install an efficient solar system which led to discussions to installing a south facing ground-mounted system at area of land at the bottom of the garden. Roly conducted a detailed survey of the area to ensure the land was suitable for the Solar Installation and to check that the cables would run correctly from the panels to the house.
Once Roly and the customers were satisfied with the location of the solar PV panels, Roly submitted a DNO G59 application to the UK Power Network for a 10kW system which was declined as there was not enough space within the network. The system was reduced to 4kW which didn’t require permission from the DNO. As the system was being ground mounted Mr Stubbs had to apply for Planning Permission and a ‘Change of Use’ from the local Planning Authority which was approved.
Mike, Tom and Liam installed the 16 solar panels over 3 days. We chose Sunrise Panels which we have installed on many occasions before, they have a European Warranty providing a “Twelve Years Repair, Replacement or Refund Warranty” ensuring reassurance to our customer.
Following the installation Mike, our qualified electrician installed a Solar iBoost in the property which uses the energy generated from the PV array which isn’t being otherwise used in the home to heat the water in the tank for free.
Mr and Mrs Stubbs were able to apply for the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) which is a Government Incentive scheme providing tax-free, index linked quarterly payment for 20 years to owners of MCS approved generation systems.
Mr and Mrs Stubbs are delighted that they will be approximately £905 a year better off following his solar installation.
