Jason contacted us with a list of upgrades for his family home. We were very excited about getting stuck into a big project such as this, especially when the customer was so passionate about making the switch to renewable energy – Jason knew what he wanted and being on the journey with him was a privilege.
First on the list was to replace his existing gas-fired boiler with an air source heat pump. As with all new installations, Shane visited the property to assess which ASHP would be most suitable not just for the client’s home but for the client’s needs. The conclusion was that an 8.5kW Mitsubishi air source heat pump, with an A-rated cylinder, would be the perfect choice to meet the heat loss of the family home…and to be as energy efficient as possible. When replacing a fossil fuel system, we occasionally need to replace some existing radiators with larger ones; this is because heat pumps operate at a lower temperature than traditional boilers, and the radiators need to have a larger surface area to emit enough heat to warm your home. So, seven shiny new radiators were installed to ensure the whole system worked smoothly.
But what was next on the list…
Jason was keen to maximise his roof space, so following the team’s advice, he opted for a 7kW solar PV installation, which is one of our in-roof solar options. This design offers more of an aesthetically pleasing appearance compared to an on-roof installation, as the panels seamlessly integrate with the roof tiles. Alongside micro inverters, MyEnergy 10kWh battery and inverter, it was a great choice of system! But it didn’t end there; nope, we had loads more to do. The next stage was to install an Eddi hot water diverter, which will heat the home’s water for free when the solar PV system generates excess electricity. A few months after Jason’s solar installation, he gave us a call to discuss underfloor heating options for the extension and parts of the original property. We suggested JK Floorheating and the results were exactly what he was looking for—another happy customer in the bag.
We will let you into a little secret: throughout spring and summer, Jason’s property almost runs off-grid, even whilst charging his electric car…to say he and his family are delighted is an understatement.
Testimonial:
‘Over the past 18 months, Eco Installer has delivered a complete renovation of the heating and energy system in our house. They swapped an old gas boiler for an Ecodan 7.5kW air-source heat pump, installed a new hot water cylinder and high output radiators, Eddi hot water diverter, 7kw rooftop solar panel install, MyEnergi 10kWh house battery and inverter, and JK underfloor heating system. They delivered a high-quality service and install at every stage. Despite the volume of work, they kept disruption to a minimum and completed the works to schedule, working alongside other projects in the house. Their team is knowledgeable and responsive, and despite being an early adopter of the MyEnergi system they handled it all smoothly and were happy to discuss my questions and advise on the best approach. The system has worked perfectly since day one, and the house now runs almost entirely off-grid throughout spring and summer, even when charging an electric car. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to install a renewable energy system in their house.’
