- 8kW Nibe Air Source Heat Pump
- 3.99kW In-roof Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panel system
Location:
Manea, Cambridge
Date:
Spring 2018
Project Details:
After much consideration, Mosie and Chris had decided it was the right time to move house. After several months of searching for the perfect home without any luck, Chris considered building his own home.
Their search changed from houses to plots of land. After a long search, the couple found some land in Manea for sale which had amazing views of the open fens.
Mosie and Chris visited the NEC Self-build show and discovered the benefits of an Air Source Heat Pump. With no gas in the village, Mosie and Chris decided to find a local company who could install a heat pump system. After finding Eco Installer on the internet, a meeting was arranged with Roly at the Witchford, Ely office to go through the plans and discuss ideas further.
Solar pv panels were not something Mosie and Chris had considered prior to the meeting. Solar pv panels can produce most of the energy to the run the heat pump and underfloor heating, providing a completely renewable system. Roly calculated 14 panels would fit on the south facing roof proving a yearly estimated income from the Feed-in Tariff of £150, £85 from exported electricity and £135 in electricity savings, totalling at approximately £370 a year.
With a plan in place, our team worked closely with the builders to ensure the project ran smoothly. The in-roof Perlight solar panels were installed ready for the tiler to install the roof tiles. The NIBE Air Source Heat Pump was installed neatly in the garden against the wall of the house and the buffer tank, cylinder and underfloor manifolds were fitted in a purpose built plant room.
Mosie and Chris and now living in their beautiful family home. From their cosy living room, they have stunning views of the fen and in the distance Ely Cathedral can be spotted. During the winter months they have the most amazing sights of thousands of Swans as they arrive at the Welney Wash. They even have a Barn Owl which visits the garden most evenings!
Mosie and Chris has put so much thought into each and every area of the house. Chris has carefully designed and constructed the elegant open-plan kitchen and 3 charming bathrooms and he is now busy making doors for each room.
The couple are pleased they decided to go with the NIBE Air Source Heat Pump. They are delighted with how quiet it is when running, and how the system weather compensates so they do not need to change the settings. They are now signed up to the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) for the solar panel installation and the Renewable Heat Incentive for the heat pump and look forward to earnings from the Government incentives.
We look forward to visiting Mosie and Chris in a years to time to service their heat pump.
