We were contacted by Mr & Mrs Beavis who had an interest in Solar Panels for their property in Haddenham, Ely, Cambridgeshire. Mr Beavis had a good understanding of renewable heating and was specific that he only wanted to invest in European products that offered a European warranty.
Roly and Shane visited the property to carry out a site survey; they calculated that 16 panels could be installed producing up to 3848 Kilowatt hours per annum.
Following Mr Beavis instruction, Roly decided the best solution would be to install ‘Solar World’ panels with the Power One Inverter positioned in the garage. The Sunmodule Solar Photovoltaic Panels are just 30mm thin and more efficient than many other panels available. The system comes with a ten year product warranty and has a plus performance tolerance. The German company provides a 25 year Linear Performance Warranty meaning that in 25 years, the system will have lost no more than 17.5% of its total power.
The system took just two days to install and tested the fitness of our engineers as the roof was extremely steep (please see photos to the right). Following the installation, our electrician Mike visited the property and installed a Solar iBoost which diverts unused energy to heat hot water for “free”.
Mr & Mrs Beavis will also replace their oil heating system with a Biomass Boiler. Roly went through the variety of different products available and Mr Beavis decided that the best option would be to install a ‘Windhager BioWIN 2’. The BioWin 2 boiler requires just 1.5 metres of space and is currently the only pellet boiler that can fit into small areas and be installed flush to the wall.

Mr & Mrs Beavis are now benefiting from cheaper energy bills and earnings from the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) for every kilowatt of energy generated for the next 20 years. They will receive the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) for 7 years once the Biomass Boiler has been installed and commissioned.
