Project details:
James and Julia contacted us with an interest in having a solar panel installation to help reduce their energy costs. James explained the roof of his 18C house was not suitable for solar panels but wondered if it would be possible to have a ground mounted system in his garden.
At the bottom of James and Julia’s garden was a large windmill mound; Roly calculated 22 panels could be installed on the south facing side producing 6kW peak power. This would reduce their electricity bills by an estimated £580 per year if they used all the electricity generated.
Due to local electricity grid restrictions, it was necessary to install a Fronius inverter with export limiting technology. This automatically scales the inverter so that it will never export more than 3.67kW to the grid.
Roly sent James a design and a quote for a solar system using Sapphire Mono Panels which carry a 10 Year Manufacturers product warranty and a Premium Linear performance guarantee. James was pleased with the information received and placed an order with us.
Before the installation took place, Roly helped James gain his planning permission.
The installation took our team just a few days to complete. Karl, Sam, Roly and our apprentice William carefully marked out the site before fitting the solar brackets securely to the ground with large ground screws (please see photo to the right). They then built the array and configuring the system. James kindly helped our team run ducting power and data cables.
It has been great working with James and Julia throughout this project. The couple are now benefiting from reduced energy bills and an income from the Governments Feed-in Tariff (FiT).
Testimonial:
”The installation of solar panels at our property has been part of a comprehensive scheme to reduce our energy costs, including converting our oil Aga from oil to electric fuel, replacing our old oil boiler with an efficient condensing model and insulating walls, floors and attic where practicable.
We did not want solar panels on our house, which is an 18C old windmill cottage, extended in the 1960’s so, with Eco Installer’s advice we located them at the bottom of our garden, hidden from the house by the old mill mound.
I researched the market extensively before appointing Eco Installer. I found them to be knowledgeable, flexible and clear in their financial projections and quotation. They have also been helpful when installing the equipment and in completing the necessary FIT application.”
