Case Study:
Upon her return to the UK a few years ago, following 17 years of living in Malaysia, Gretta moved into temporary accommodation on site with her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Fernando, in Little Downham, Cambridgeshire. After losing her adventurous husband, Gretta was sad to return to the UK and wanted to ensure that the home she created for herself here gave a nod to the beautiful architecture and simplicity of the way of life she’d experienced in Malaysia. On land purchased from the site of Mary and Fernando’s existing home, Gretta set out – with Fernando as Project Manager and her nephew, Carlos, as the Architect – to create an idyllic home in the British countryside.
Eco Installer were privileged to have been appointed to assist with Gretta’s new build home, installing a state-of-the-art Air Source Heat Pump to provide heating and hot water throughout the home. In addition to this – and in keeping with the minimal design of the home that Gretta had dreamed of – we installed underfloor heating throughout the one-story property, to keep all operational aspects of the heating system hidden, providing a clean look for the finished result.
As we move into the chilly winter months, from the cosy chairs in Gretta’s sleek kitchen, she enjoys the warmth on her toes with views of her beautiful garden with occasional visits of dears, pheasants and other charming wildlife.
Gretta will be able to apply for the Domestic Renewable Heating Incentive (RHI) run by the UK Government which will allow her to claim money towards the renewable heating in her home.
Not only were we delighted to assist Gretta with her project, but we were also appointed by Mary and Fernando to help upgrade their system during the renovation of their own property on the same site. This also included underfloor heating in some of the ground floor rooms, as well as two 12kw NIBE Air Source Heat Pumps to provide heating and hot water throughout the property.
