Project details:
Mr & Mrs S were at the early stages of building their new family home when they gave us a call to see which environmentally friendly heating systems would be best suited for their property in Cambridge. After looking at the architect plans and discussing our client’s requirements we recommended an 8kW NIBE air source heat pump to provide the families heating and hot water. Mr & Mrs S chose to have underfloor heating throughout the ground floor and radiators one the first floor, providing a beautifully warm family home.
Our clients were keen to be as self-sufficient as possible and was interested to see how a solar photovoltaic (PV) system would contribute towards the electrical running costs of the heat pump. We calculated a 10.8kW in-roof solar PV system using Longi panels and a Solis inverter would fit neatly on the south facing roof. An in-roof solar system is often a popular choice for new-build projects as the panels fit neatly on a frame that sits flush to the surrounding tiles.
Our team also installed a mechanical ventilation with heat recovery system (MVHR) into the well-insulated house to provide fresh filtered air throughout. What a great use of environmentally friendly technology!
Mr & Mrs S are delighted to be fossil-fuel free! They will have low energy bills and can now apply for the Government’s Renewable Heat Incentive which they will receive for 7 years.
Mr & Mrs S are now getting ready to move into their contemporary home and using their new eco-friendly technology.
