Mike, our Electrical Director (with the help of Jack our Apprentice) is currently installing a MVHR system on three projects we are working on, one of which is a Passive house in St. Ives. Mike was keen to develop his skills and knowledge in ventilation systems and understood how our customers can benefit from MVHR. Following the training and becoming an MVHP approved installer, Mike is delighted at how this side of our business is growing.
An MVHR appliance warms fresh air into the building and reduces the need for heating by using the heat from stale air extracted from bathrooms and kitchens. We install Domus products which are efficient at driving fresh and filtered air around a building which significantly improves the living environment.
As an example, an average bathroom full of moist air contains over 600 Watts of heat energy; HRX appliances can recover up to 80% of this heat directly saving costs to our customers as well as carbon emissions.
During 2013, Building Regulations changed requiring 44% of energy saving measures (Code 4). As regulations become stricter, dwellings are becoming air-tight and in need of active ventilation. MVHR is the ideal solution to help the house ‘breath’ providing comfortable living conditions.
Our showroom in Sutton has a range of renewable products on display including Biomass Boilers, an Air Source Heat Pump and log burners; we plan to install a MVHR unit in our showroom within the next month.
